  • DIY oatmeal cleanser

It’s gentle, calms and softens the skin plus you only need two ingredients to make it. It’s a winner! I suggest you to give it a try.

Oatmeal is one of my favorites when it comes to natural ingredients, because it has such an amazing effect on the skin. It is very gentle, yet deeply cleans and softens the skin while making it beautifully glowing and fresh. That’s why Asian women are also fond of it. Another bonus is that it is supercheap and you can keep it in a jar for months.

Ok, but now let’s look at the recipe in detail!

    Ingredients:

    1 tablespoon of oat flour

1 teaspoon of honey (organic, raw or manuka is the best)

    Preparation:

Put the honey and the oat flour in a small bowl, add a little water and mix it all together. (It shouldn’t be too runny, more like a pasty texture.) READY! It wasn’t very complicated, was it?

    How to use it

Always make the mixture fresh. You can keep it in the fridge for 1-2 days but if you don’t want to get messy, you can also use only the honey or the oatflour separately to wash your face. At the moment I have this honey on my bathroom cabinet, and I wash my face with it every morning. I love it!

If you have a little more time, you can use the mixture as a MASK too. Or – as I said before – separate the honey and the oatmeal flour. With a little bit of water you apply it onto your face (honey by itself OR oatflour+water), leave it on for 20 minutes, and then wash it off. Tada!

Why is it so good and for which skin type?

I recommend everyone to try it out. But most likely it’s best for sensitive, problematic, acne-prone and oily/combination skin. People with rosacea can also benefit from using it, because honey and oatmeal are extremely soothing.

Honey has great antiseptic, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, it helps the skin absorb and retain water, which is why it is a miracle ingredient for dehydrated and acne prone skin. It is full of minerals, vitamins, flavonoids and antioxidants.

The oat flour (oatmeal) contains beta-glucan, protein and fats as well, which is why it moisturizes the skin so well. It dissolves all kinds of irritation, redness, itchiness, and even slightly exfoliates the skin. It can also be used to treat neurodermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, and even hair loss.

What type of honey to choose?

It is best to use bio, organic or homemade honey. The darker the colour, the better. Why? Because in this case it contains much more vitamins and minerals. Raw honey is a good option as well as the very trendy but pricey manuka. If you are allergic to honey (or any bee products), do not try to use it on your face at all!

    Beautiful skin to all!

    Much love,

    Peonilla xx
