I haven’t been using a lot of make-up lately, but mascara is always a must even with my minimal “no-makeup makeup look”. So let me introduce two of my favorites!
ZUZU LUXE MASCARA
One of the foreign bloggers, who I follow, once made a natural mascara test and the „winner” was this Zuzu Luxe Mascara which really raised my attention. So I finally ordered it in Onyx (black).
It was a little strange at first that the tube is transparent, which is kind of unusual to me. The packaging is nothing special though, simple, a little bit even “cheap” looking, but it is made of recycled materials which is amazing. The brush is completely traditional. This, however, does not come at the expense of quality. The ingredient list also contains wonderful nourishing components (aloe, panthenol, etc.), yet no irritants – so even people with super sensitive eyes can not be disappointed in it. It is 100% vegan, gluten-, soy-free and also cruelty-free.
You can not expect any dramatic effect from this mascara, but the eyelashes are nicely curved and separated after use. There is no smudging, clumping, or flaking. On an average weekday I think we can not wish for more, can’t we? It comes off easily with micellar water despite the fact that it is pretty resistant to rain and humidity (I’ve been testing it). I really like it, for about US $14.08 I think it is a great mascara.
About the brand. They are an American company and they exclusively work with natural, vegan ingredients. It is well-known among foreign green beauty bloggers, so only for Hungarians it is kind of a “never heard of” category.
Where can you buy it? I ordered it from ebay.
Ingredients (INCI): Aqua (Infusion of Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice) *, Cellulose Gum, Sorbitol, Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol, Lecithin, Panthenol, Crithmum Maritimum (Sea Fennel) Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Euphrasia Officinalis (Eyebright) Xanthan Gum, Iron Oxides, Hectorite, Titanium Dioxide, Potassium Sorbate
CLINIQUE CHUBBY LASH FATTENING MASCARA
I’ve been using the Clinique High Impact mascara for years and I was very pleased with it, but because there was a 20% discount in Douglas I thought I’d try something „wilder”. Hight Impact Extreme Volume is kind of a similar one with a fatty brush, but a lot more expensive, and there’s no significant difference between the two, so finally I brought home the Chubby Lash Fattening mascara. And I’m so happy with it!
The brush is pretty big, but it is surpisingly easy to work with it. Two coats give me great volume, length and thickness. And it lasts! No panda eyes even if it is raining which is pretty important to me. But you don’t need a two-phase makeup remover to remove it either.
I know it is not a natural mascara and its INCI is not perfect, but honestly I had really bad experiences with 100% organic, natural mascaras before (stinging, redness, tearing). There is no alcohol and fragrance in it and has never irritated my eyes. Ever. Pretty sad that it is not cruelty-free though and it is not too cheap but overall I really like it. If I need that dramatic look I will still use it.
Where can you buy it? At Douglas, Sephora or any of the Clinique stores.
